Paterno returns to sideline Sat Sep 24 13:25:54 2011 EST
State College, PA (Sports Network) - Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno returned to the sideline for Saturday's game against Eastern Michigan. The Hall of Fame coach had spent the Nittany Lions' first three games in the press box because of injuries suffered during a preseason practice. He sustained injuries to his arm and hip when he was blindsided by a player running a drill. Paterno, 84, holds the record for most victories by an FBS coach with 403.

the Crimson Tide moved back to No. 2 and the Tigers slipped to third. LSU, after a 49-3 dismantling of Northwestern State on Saturday, still earned 17 first-place votes and Alabama again garnered nine No. 1 tallies following a 27-11 victory at Penn State. The Tide, though, have six more total points than the Tigers this week. Boise State, which was idle this weekend, again picked up two first-place votes to remain fourth and Florida State held at No. 5 after a 62-10 thumping of Charleston South

University Park, PA (Sports Network) - Trent Richardson ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns, as third-ranked Alabama controlled No. 23 Penn State, 27-11, in a battle of historic programs at Beaver Stadium. AJ McCarron passed for 163 yards and a touchdown for the Crimson Tide (2-0), who had beaten Penn State in Tuscaloosa last season by a 24-3 score. This year's matchup wasn't much different because of the Nittany Lions' ineffective offense. Penn State (1-1) gained only 251 yards because of sha

I guess in theory, yeah, everybody would want to have a game with instant replay. We play the same game that Penn State plays. I'm not making those decisions." The ending on a humid afternoon, when tempers could have flared, didn't mar an excellent non-conference match-up, with the Wildcats from CAA Football pushing their series lead to 11-2 over the defending P

Traditional powers square off in Happy Valley Wed Sep  7 10:51:15 2011 EST
University Park, PA (Sports Network) - A matchup of traditional powers takes place in Happy Valley this Saturday, as the third-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide come calling on the 23rd-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions. Alabama, one of the favorites to win the SEC this year, had absolutely no trouble winning its season opener last week, as the Kent State Golden Flashes put up very little resistance in a 48-7 final. It was the 10th straight win for 'Bama in a season lidlifter, and served as a tune-up f
