Blues to put streak on line in Dallas

Hockey Betting Lines

03/04/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The St. Louis Blues will try to claim a season-high fifth straight victory when they visit the Dallas Stars, who will try to get back on track at American Airlines Center this evening after a disappointing start to their post-Olympic schedule.

The Blues entered the break having won three straight, and the two-week layoff didn't slow the club down. St. Louis visited Phoenix on Tuesday night and left town with a 5-2 victory.

David Backes and T.J. Oshie each had a goal and an assist while Andy McDonald, Jay McClement and Brad Boyes each added a goal. Chris Mason stopped 37 shots in the win.

St. Louis kicked off a six-game road trip and scored five straight times after allowing an early goal in the first period.

"It took a little bit of a delay, but we got goals," Boyes said. "We might have got outplayed a little bit in the first, but we found goals and we found ways to get pucks in net and come out ahead, which was a big lift."

St. Louis, which hasn't won five straight since March 20-29 of last season, also made a move after the win, acquiring forward Matt D'Agostini from Montreal for prospect Aaron Palushaj. D'Agostini appeared in 40 games for the Canadiens this season, notching two goals and two assists.

The Blues then made another minor move on Wednesday before the deadline, sending center Yan Stastny to Vancouver for minor-league forward Pierre-Cedric Labrie.

The Stars, who stood pat at the trade deadline, take the ice after dropping a 5-1 decision to Los Angeles on Tuesday. Marty Turco gave up all five goals on 22 shots faced, while Mike Ribeiro got Dallas on the board 5:19 into the third period. It marked Ribeiro's fourth goal in four games since returning from a throat injury.

"We're a team that needs everybody, and we know that," said Stars head coach Marc Crawford. "We had a few too many passengers tonight, and we can't. We're at that level that we can't have three or four or five guys not be at a pretty optimum level, especially on our defensive corps."

Dallas failed to jump back into the playoff picture, as it is two points behind Detroit for the eighth spot in the Western Conference.

The setback was just the Stars' second in their last nine home games, and the club is 18-7-5 at Dallas this year. The Stars are 3-1-1 in their last five at home versus the Blues, but did drop a 4-3 shootout decision to St. Louis when the clubs last met in Dallas on November 25.

Boyes had the deciding shootout tally as the Blues beat the Stars for the fourth time in the last six overall meetings between the teams.
