Yankees' Burnett leaves with hand injury

07/17/2010 - Bronx, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - New York Yankees pitcher A.J. Burnett left Saturday's game against Tampa Bay with lacerations in his right hand.

Burnett allowed an RBI single to Carlos Pena in the third inning and was immediately visited by manager Joe Girardi and a team trainer. After a conversation on the mound, Burnett was pulled from the game.

It is not known when the injury occurred.

He had been struggling up to that point, allowing four hits and four earned runs in two-plus innings. The Yankees trailed, 4-2, at the time of his departure.

Burnett came into the game 7-7 with a 4.75 earned run average in 18 starts during his second season with the Yankees.
