Rangers activate Lee prior to debut

07/10/2010 - Arlington, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Texas Rangers made several roster moves prior to Saturday's game against the Baltimore Orioles, including the activation of pitcher Cliff Lee, whom the team acquired on Friday.

Lee, a 2010 All-Star and the AL leader in earned run average (2.34) and complete games (five), was acquired from Seattle on Friday along with reliever Mark Lowe in exchange for first baseman Justin Smoak and three minor league players. He is scheduled to make his Texas debut in Saturday's contest against Baltimore, the worst team in the league.

Additionally, the Rangers recalled pitcher Matt Harrison from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned pitchers Doug Mathis and Pedro Strop to the same club.

Harrison will be available out of the bullpen and had been in the minors for a little more than a week. He is 1-1 with a 4.47 ERA and one save in 13 games, six starts, for the major league club in 2010.

Mathis is 1-1 with a 6.98 ERA in 10 games for Texas this season, while Strop has allowed one run in 3 2/3 innings over four appearances.
