Burton wins Dollar General 300

10/13/2007 - Concord, NC (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Jeff Burton started at the back of the field because of an engine change, but still captured Friday night's Dollar General 300 Busch Series race at the Lowe's Motor Speedway. The No.29 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet driver crossed the finish line 1.599 seconds ahead of Kyle Busch.

The victory was Burton's fourth of the season and 26th of his Busch career.

"We're just having fun," said Burton.

Greg Biffle won the pole and brought the field to the green flag for 200 laps of racing. In fact, the No.16 Ford led the first 28 laps before finally yielding to Kasey Kahne on the first caution-flag stop.

Kahne used a faster stop to grab the lead from Biffle, who came out third. But it only took Biffle until lap 44 to retake the position from Kahne. Also moving up was Edwards, the points leader, who slipped underneath Kahne too. Biffle and Edwards exchange positions at the top on lap 58 giving Edwards five bonus points in his quest for the drivers championship.

The two Roush Fenway Racing Fords pulled away from Kahne, opening up a margin of 1.495 seconds after 60 laps. Once Edwards got the clean air, he began to pull away from Biffle too. By lap 75 he margin over teammate Biffle was almost three seconds. But a debris-caused caution flag on lap 85 slowed the field and erased Edwards' lead.

After the restart on lap 90, Biffle slid below Edwards to retake the lead, but it was Edwards out front when the field passed the 100-lap halfway point.

Edwards and Biffle were still leading the way when Blake Bjorklund's engine blew and everyone pitted on lap 127. Clint Bowyer took fuel only and stole the lead from Edwards and Biffle. Edwards' crew took out a right-rear spring rubber and came out 10th.

Bowyer restarted on lap 133 with Biffle in second, Burton in third and Dale Earnhardt Jr. in fourth place. The gamble by the Edwards' crew didn't pay off as on the restart, Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth and Jason Keller were all involved in a turn two crash. It appeared that Johnson started the incident when he got loose.

"We did what we could to win the race," said Edwards. "It just didn't work out. It's crazy, we had the best car."

They restarted with 62 laps to go, but lasted less than two laps. This time leader Bowyer spun on his "old" tires coming out of turn four. When he did, he slid up the track right into Biffle. Burton was the beneficiary of the Bowyer spin as he avoided the two cars and inherited the lead.

But Burton couldn't cruise to the checkered flag. He had "Junior" and Busch testing him. Earnhardt Jr. got underneath Burton, but couldn't complete the pass and almost wrecked both cars with 53 laps to go.

Burton then pulled away, expanding the lead to 1.668 seconds with 40 laps to go. The margin settled at just under one and-a-half seconds as the laps clicked off. Then with about 22 laps to go, "Junior" began to chop distance off the gap. By lap 180 the lead was just 0.858 seconds.

Reed Sorenson slammed the outside wall with 19 laps remaining to slow the race and after an extended cleanup, they were ready for an 11-lap shootout to the finish.

When they restarted, the top side of the track, where Earnhardt Jr. was running, just didn't have the grip. Busch slipped below "Junior" for second and Aric Almirola did the same.

Burton built a 1.244-second lead on Busch with four laps to go and that was the race. Busch couldn't get any closer and Burton took the checkered flag by a comfortable margin.

Edwards was credited with a 33rd-place finish and will take a 638-point lead to the next race. That will be on Saturday, October 27th at the Memphis Motorsports Park.

Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament odds
As of February 9, MySportsbook.com has released its coveted 2007 Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament betting odds. “March Madness betting ” only a month away, the top ranked Florida Gators are favorite at 7-2 to win it all. The defending champs have not disappointed at all this season and currently have a 22-2 record and are undefeated (9-0) in SEC play. The Gators’ thrive off of their extremely balanced, experienced and versatile attack. All five starters started in last seasons National Championship game. What is most impressive with this group is their balance; the five starters all average between 10.7 and 13.6 PPG. The Gators have been on an absolute roll having won 15 straight by an average of 16.4 PPG.

Right behind the Gators are the 5th ranked UNC Tar Heels at 9-2. The Heels (21-3, 7-2) are absolutely loaded with top notch talent and are as deep as any team in the country. A concern for the Tar Heels might be inexperience. Of their top four scorers/ minute earners, three are freshmen and the other is a sophomore. The rest of the regular season, the Tar Heels play only one team that is currently ranked (Duke). Their remaining opponents do combine for an impressive 107-58 record though.

Other teams that the MySportsbook.com members seem to believe will win it all include the west coasts’ top team #2 UCLA (6-1), #3 OSU behind man-child Greg Oden (8-1), and #4 Wisconsin (10-1) behind their defense which has given up 70+ points only three times all season.

Below is a list of some of the favorites to win the 2007 Men’s NCAA Basketball Championship lines. For the full list of teams and March Madness odds be sure to log onto MySportsbook.com.
